ஸ்ரீ கைலாசநாதர் ஆசி உங்களோடு இருப்பதாக!

I would like to extend my warmest greetings and good wishes to all those who are celebrating Deepavali, the festival of lights in Sri Lanka and around the world.

It is since ancient times that Deepavali has been celebrated. The festival is celebrated for five continuous days and it is dedicated to various Gods and Goddesses. According to the epic Ramayana, Lord Rama was a great warrior and he was exiled by his father Dasharatha, the King of Ayodhya, along with his consort Sita and his faithful younger brother Lakshmana. The King of Lanka Ravana, abducted Lord Rama’s consort Sita from the forest during their exile and took her away to his Kingdom of Lanka.

Lord Rama and Lakshmana aided by the armies of Vanaras, conquered Lanka and fought against Ravana, in which Ravana and his army were destroyed and consort Sita was rescued. Lord Rama, Sita and younger brother Lakshmana returned to Ayodhya on a new moon day of Kartik after 14 years in exile. To celebrate Lord Rama’s return to his Kingdom, the people of Ayodhya, lit up their homes with earthen lamps, they burst firecrackers and decorated the entire city in the grandest manner to mark the victory of good over evil.

May the Festival of Lights bring a world of sparkling joy, happiness, prosperity and peace in your lives.

I wish you all a Happy and peaceful Deepavali!

May the blessings of Lord Sri Kailasanathar be upon you all!
